I swear I was doing well today

Until right now.

Country Music is safe a safe zone.

My job is a safe zone.

Summer during the day is a safe zone.

When the day winds down is not a safe zone. All I want to do is just curl up under my sheets and make a phone call. It feels like something is missing. Like my day isnt over. Summer should be easy. I never got to see him then last year, or the year before. He went out of the country and we couldnt talk for a week. But this is so different. I feel so alone. I want to hear about his day and know how he's doing.

And I secretly hope that they found cavities at his dentist appointment today.
Your voice is crystal clear inside my head and I can't escape.

Adele - Someone like you

I heard that you're settled down,
That you found a girl and you're married now,
I heard that your dreams came true,
Guess she gave you things I didn't give to you,
Old friend, why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back or hide from the light,

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited,
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it,
I had hoped you'd see my face,
And that you'd be reminded that for me it isn't over,

Nevermind, I'll find someone like you,
I wish nothing but the best for you, too,
Don't forget me, I beg,
I remember you said,
"Sometimes it lasts in love,
But sometimes it hurts instead,"
Sometimes it lasts in love,
But sometimes it hurts instead, yeah,

You know how the time flies,
Only yesterday was the time of our lives,
We were born and raised in a summer haze,
Bound by the surprise of our glory days,

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited,
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it,
I had hoped you'd see my face,
And that you'd be reminded that for me it isn't over,

Nevermind, I'll find someone like you,
I wish nothing but the best for you, too,
Don't forget me, I beg,
I remember you said,
"Sometimes it lasts in love,
But sometimes it hurts instead,"

Nothing compares,
No worries or cares,
Regrets and mistakes, they're memories made,
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?

Nevermind, I'll find someone like you,
I wish nothing but the best for you,
Don't forget me, I beg,
I remember you said,
"Sometimes it lasts in love,
But sometimes it hurts instead,"

Nevermind, I'll find someone like you,
I wish nothing but the best for you, too,
Don't forget me, I beg,
I remember you said,
"Sometimes it lasts in love,
But sometimes it hurts instead,"
Sometimes it lasts in love,
But sometimes it hurts instead.

Mr. Beary Bear McBearerton

This is for the benefit of those who read my blog - a.k.a. Darby, whom I called a few hours ago, and Libby. (Libby, you've had a rough week. Please don't read this unless you want to be bogged down with my current story. Its sad.) This is copied directly out of what I wrote in my journal. I know that you guys care about me and want to see inside my head right now. So here it is: exactly what is going on, and exactly what I think, without censorship or editing.

***

I have a headache. My eyes are puffy and I'm wondering if I'm ever going to run out of tears. Tonight has probably been one of, if not the most difficult night of my life. After twenty months, I said goodbye to my boyfriend and best friend.

Or is it goodbye? Nothing is typical with us, with our relationship. We are staying best friends. I bought him a webcam for graduation so we can skype. He promised that I could see him the week before he left for Harvard. I can still text him, still talk with him, still keep him in my life.
That is a long time to get to know someone. How can I take a step back in our relationship. I feel so alone without his hand to hold, his body for me to fall asleep against, completely at ease. No one else has ever accepted me, and all my quirks and faults, without hesitation. I finally let myself fall, only to have love wrenched away from me by distance and situation.

I remember everything: Our first encounter at HOBY. Going to the fair. I was oblivious; I should have known he liked me at that very moment. A date at starbucks. A date at the Ice Cream Parlor. My first TFOM show, and the set list asking me to homecoming. Our first kiss on a nature trail. I was sick, but he kissed me anyway. Three homecomings. Three Proms. countless basketball and football games. School rivals. One Columbus Crew game. One Reds game. Five Guys. Smashburger. Bravos. Coldstone. Shows. Asking Alexandria. Twenty One Pilots. Cox Arboretum. Two Graduations. A Thousand phone calls.

September 27, 2009, but really June 18, 2009. I spent exactly half of my high school experience with Anthony. He's shaped who I am. Not that I am not an individual, but so much of me is him as well. There're material posessions: two shirts, one belt, two scarves, one necklace, one bracelet, one silver box, one furry blanket, one penguin, one postcard, hundreds of photos. But then there is hte intangible. His taste in music. The way he'd make fun of me for being silly, acting like a child, or sleeping all the time. The way he'd dissect pop music. Even the way he'd laugh is ingrained in my mind. Everything reminds me of him.

The truth is that I'm scared. Im scared of moving on. I have no reason to hate him. What if he moves on before I do and finds a Harvard girl? What if I never stop loving him? What if I never find someone as perfect as him? I wish I would have not taken for granted the last two years. How was I supposed to know that our relationship would last.I was cautious. I didnt want to fall too fast, too hard, but I also didnt want to make a mistake.

I sumetimes find an unusual comfort in the fact that our physical relationship didn't go as far as our emotional one. I honestly don'the'd dissect pop music. Even the way he'd laugh is ingrained ni my mind. Everything reminds me of him.

The truth is that I'm afraid. I'm scared of moving on what if I never stop loving him? think I could have made it then.

I now don't know how to be single. I don't want to be single. For once I cant bear to be an optimist. Right now I'm listening to Mumford & Sons. There's a searing pain in my forehead, so bad that I can barely see. I feel sick to my stomach. My heart feels as though someone has it in between two hands, squeezing until it breaks. Emotional pain is truly worse than physical pain.

We spent two hours on his couch crying today. We were playing wii tennis, and I lost twice, after barely trying. I told him I was done, sat on the couch, and burst into silent sobs,my head buried in a pillow. He sat down with me and I buried my head in his chest and left mascara stains on his shirt. It was the first and only time I have ever seen him cry. He leaves Monday morning. We still love each other, and said so in between falling tears today. He chose education over love. I hope he feels like I do right now.

Three blog posts in one night?

My mind is swimming right now, but I've been meaning to say this for awhile. I know they won't see it, but for my own sake, I wanted to thank all my teachers who have made going to Lebanon High School bearable.

Dear Mr. Meno,
I don't think most of your students realize this, but in addition to having a fun and entertaining class, you are a model teacher. You command respect from your students but also give respect in return. When you punish your students, you do so in a condescending way that teaches them a lesson while also keeping a sardonic sense of humor. You are never lazy, always looking up the answer to a question from a student that you are unsure of the answer to. You take pride in your subject and prepare each and every student for the AP test. In addition to all of this, you still find time to balance your live and be a perfect father for your daughter. I hope I can be as good of a teacher as you are.

Dear Mr. Poitinger,
You were the first person to show me what it means to truly have passion for what you teach. In your class I felt like you really wanted us to know the history of our country, not that you just had to teach it because it was on the curriculum. You taught me everything I know about writing a paper for History, and because of you, I loved the class enough to take AP Euro this year. Your anecdotes and personal comments about historical figures engaged each student and took what could have been a boring lecture and made it into a fun class.

Dear Mrs. Fritz,
I still remember the moment I decided to become an English teacher. It was before I had you for class, and we were at the MS walk, and you were talking about the Sun Also Rises. I had never had such an exciting conversation about literature with someone and It hit me on the way home that I wanted to be in a profession where I could read books as part of my job. I cried on my way home because I was so happy. I have learned so much in your class and have loved every book we've. I have never been more ecstatic to receive a perfect grade than for one of your essays. You are a great teacher, and you do so because you love it. You work two jobs just because you love it so much. People always ask me "Are you going to be a Mrs. Fritz type of English Teacher?" and I smile and say of course.

Mrs Rowe and her Sixth Grade Class,
I have never felt more confident in my future than when I stand in front of all my favorite sixth graders. When I'm teaching a lesson, I can be as crazy and goofy as I want and you all just laugh at me and listen. Well, that is mostly, until Mrs. Row Counts down from 5 and you KNOW you have to shut up. I have so much fun hearing about your days and what you're doing in class. When you begged me to stay, it was probably one of the best moments of my life. I hope Ive inspired some of you.

Senora Bryant,

Translation:
If I didnt have you for a teacher, I could not write this sentence. I love the spanish language. You have taught me a lot but I did not understand that I was learning because I only had to take and do grammar work. Many people use you to their advantage because they know that youre flexible, but I respect you and my spanish class has been one of my favorite clases in school.

Sometimes I get sick of being mediocre.

There are certain moments in that small stretch of time that precedes a fierce storm where the immediate sky is a bright sunny blue. Facing one direction it appears to be a calm day of cumulus clouds reflecting the suns warm rays. However, suddenly a slight breeze cause a certain chill. Thus, the opposite direction signals the impending doom. Streaks of far off rain line the dim murky sky, a warning of the cold, frightening storm. No. It isn't a baptism, nor rejuvenating. However, I guess you could call it the start of a new life.

Welcome to my current situation.

I love my life, but I'm mentally done with high school and want to go to college. I don't want to be alone. I don't want this excruciating pain of forcing myself out of love.

Sometimes it is difficult to reassure myself that in the wake of this storm I will resurface stronger, with good memories and experiences, as an independent soul who can handle life.

In times like this, it is also difficult to remember that I've chosen a career where I can positively affect other people and that means more to me than a prestigious degree or university. Though I know that this is what I want to do with my life, in the back of my heart I have this lingering feeling that I'm settling, especially every time some one looks at me with : the why-are-you-going-to-Bowling-Green" look, which is only erased with my addition of the phrase, "I got full tuition." I don't want to have to validate to anyone that my college choice is only okay because I got money for going there. There's more to Ohio than Ohio State, believe it or not. Yes, my boyfriend is going ivy, but I'm going to be the person that people cite in 20 years as "having helped influenced them to reach their potential."

Does anyone have a better way of coping than listening to the following song and crying myself to sleep? If so, I'd greatly appreciate it. And please don't say read the bible. My faith isnt strong enough for that.

And after the storm,
I run and run as the rains come
And I look up, I look up,
on my knees and out of luck,
I look up.

Night has always pushed up day
You must know life to see decay
But I won't rot, I won't rot
Not this mind and not this heart,
I won't rot.

And I took you by the hand
And we stood tall,
And remembered our own land,
What we lived for.

And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.

And now I cling to what I knew
I saw exactly what was true
But oh no more.
That's why I hold,
That's why I hold with all I have.
That's why I hold.

I will die alone and be left there.
Well I guess I'll just go home,
Oh God knows where.
Because death is just so full and mine so small.
Well I'm scared of what's behind and what's before.

And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.

And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair

You know what sucks?

When you realize that your boyfriend is better than you at everything, which makes you feel inferior and depressed and just not good enough.

But you can't really turn to anyone because they only one that would care is your boyfriend. But oh wait, he's better than you in the first place.

I guess Ill just have fun slacking off at a state school to become a teacher and not get paid anything because of Senate Bill 5.

Sometimes I wish someone would have pushed me to my potential.

Random Musings.

I just realized that I've never wondered to myself "who loves whom more" when it comes to my boyfriend. We're so comfortable with each other. Knowing that I love him and he loves me suffices and I don't need to know anything else. Its been a year and a half today, and I've only known him for about two years, but I never remember that. Hes a constant for me, and I've been able to trust that hes there for me.

Okay, that was sappy musing number one

Musing number 2:
I am really excited to go to college. I found out my exact room: 233 Harshman-Dunbar with Christina Ingle, a friend from HOBY. I have facebook friended a girl in 231 and 238 and I'm already getting to know people that I can't wait to hangout with at BG. The girl next door and I already are planning to watch Grease and dress up in leggings with curly hair. I also promised to be her wing-woman and hold her hair back when she pukes at 3am. College, please?

Musing number 3:
I cannot decide if I like my highlights. I think they are going to take some time to get used to.

Okay. Thats all. its 11. Goodbye.

Okay now that I have finished my rant,

I want to post a few tidbits about my day:

1. I made a "That's what she said" joke in front of a christian school show choir.

2. Makenna and I got serenaded by a boy from Nashville Tennessee and went a little crazy.

3. I met some really awesome people, also known as my new friends Tyler, Kenneth, Kelsey, Amanda, and Morgan. One of the following sang to me 3 times. Did I mention that I die inside when people sing to me?

4. I performed competitively for Lebanon High School Singers for the last time in my life.

5. I acted like tinkerbell and basically had a glitter explosion all over our choir.

6. Eight people told me they liked my silver toms

7. While standing next to me, Evan Neal asked allowed who had "Toms feet stench"

Right now, my room is silent, but yet in my head I can still hear an endless stream of show choir songs playing. It is a little ridiculous. This is what happens after assisting Mr. Lander be the Outstanding Performer judge I guess? I am insanely exhausted. I guess its bed time!
Let me preface this whiny blog post with saying the following: I have been awake for 22 hours.
---
Singers may not be the most entertaining thing for you, but I have devoted the last four years of my life to the activity. When I go to your shows, I do so because I like to see you perform, not because going to a concert it my choice way to spend my Friday or Saturday night. Basically, I do it because I love you. This is why all those times that you didn't go to my show choir competitions have added up. 3/11? That's cool. Hey guess what, I got best performer twice this year. That means a lot to me. When you don't support me, yeah, it's going to upset me. When I have a competition in my town, and you choose to go caving with your friends, I can almost understand. Almost. But when I take the time to call you at 2 in the morning to say I love you I take the time to ASK how it went, and you tell me it was with a few friends and another girl. Then you don't even bother to ask me how my day was, and just decide that you're tired and are going to end the phone call. Yeah, I feel like that gives me an excuse to be upset with you.

Where the hell is my life going?

Also, I am very lucky that no one reads my blog.
